Easy Guitar Chords for Beginners, A Tutorial

Hello I am writing this article to introduce you to a some easy guitar chords if you are new to the guitar. They are called CAGED chords because each letter in the word stands for a chord. Playing chords may seem difficult at first but with these simple ones I am going to explain here you should get the hang of it pretty quickly.

The C Chord

The C chord is probably my favorite to play and I believe it is the easiest to play for the beginner. You start out by placing your thumb firmly on the back of the neck of the guitar then placing your index finger on the second string at the first fret, place your middle finger on the fourth string at the second fret and place your ring finger on the fifty string at the third fret as depicted in the picture beside this text. The picture indicates which strings are open by the circles and the ones that don’t get strummed by the X. Strum down from the fifth sting playing all strings after the sixth string which it not played for this chord. Your fingers are represented by the numbers 1 for the index finger, 2 for the middle finger and 3 for the ring finger.

The A Chord

You start out by placing your thumb firmly on the back of the neck of the guitar then placing your index finger on the fourth string at the second fret, place your middle finger on the third string at the second fret and place your ring finger on the second string at the second fret as depicted in the  picture beside this text. Strum down from the fifth sting playing all strings to sound the chord.

The G Chord

You start out by placing your thumb firmly on the back of the neck of the guitar then place your index finger on the fifth string at the second fret, place your middle finger on the sixth string at the third fret and place your ring finger on the first string at the third fret as depicted in the picture beside this text. Strum down from the sixth sting playing all strings to sound the chord.

The E Chord

You start out by placing your thumb firmly on the back of the neck of the guitar then place your index finger on the third string at the first fret, place your middle finger on the fifth string at the second fret and place your ring finger on the fourth string at the second fret as depicted in the picture beside this text. Strum down from the sixth sting playing all strings to sound the chord.

The D Chord

You start out by placing your thumb firmly on the back of the neck of the guitar then place your index finger on the third string at the second fret, place your middle finger on the first string at the second fret and place your ring finger on the second string at the third fret as depicted in the picture beside this text. Strum down from the fourth sting playing all strings to sound the chord.

Wrap UP

I hope this article was good for you. Try having fun with these chords but only play the strings indicated in the pictures. Practice switching between the 5 chords that I explained while strumming. This will take some time but with a lot of practice you will find a rhythm and find that it is easier than you think. Well that’s all for now thank you for reading the article and good luck learning the guitar.
